CAPITALIZING ON WINTER

A winter here in New England is great for a number of reasons, many of the obvious like snowboarding, surfing, sledding and knitting things go without saying, but what about the many other things us northerners get up to. I know a bunch of people taking advantage of the fact that we have some indoor sk8 facilities pretty close by, and even a couple nice mountains within a shortish drive.

Lets try and stop thinking about riding something for one minute and take a look at all that frozen freshwater around us, the endless lakes and ponds that dot the local landscape. I'm talking about ice fishing!!! Oh yeah, when we get a cold enough stretch to safely freeze things up, Southern New England and Cape Cod offer some of the best ice fishing you can find anywhere. You can pretty much name your species of fish you want to go after, and without a doubt there is a local lake or pond that has it. So next time your complaining about how cold it is, or that you've got nothing to do, you could go explore some winter fishing on the ice, or, there is always a tun of cool stuff to check out here at the shop.
We had a short window of waves the other day, definitely the coldest session all winter and the lull between sets didn't help matters to much. It was surfing none the less and absolutely worth the uncomfortable change in and out of the wetsuit. Looks as though there may also be some small longer period swell this weekend, maybe, and then again early next week with a low that should produce some swell as it spins off the coast. Either way, keep en eye out on the weather as buoy's and wind directions are always changing fast around here. If you have any cool photos from recent sessions, surf,sk8 or snow, let us have them and we'll post them up here for all to see. Thanks to Joe booth for some photos of some recent winter activities!!!
