Spectators at the recent Maverick's Comp in California, got a big surprise when a clean up set washed over the viewing area along the cliffs. 15 Spectators were injured and some even went to hospital with broken bones. When the reports started rolling in, people were surprised that the waves made their way all the way too, and over the beach where many were watching. Those who are there for most swells were not at all surprised, and were more surprised that people thought it was surprising that this ocassionally happens. An interesting turn of events anyways, and I'm sure next year the competition might move viewers to a safer vantage point along the cliffs.

Back East things are looking descent as far as waves go, another coastal low is ready to spin its way out into the Atlantic, hopefully supplying a little window of waves for all of us eager for another session. Most of us will see little to no snow and some warmer air temps too, at least there isn't a heavy mountain of white to shovel before you head to the beach. With a little luck, we should have a few more pics to share here on the blog in a day or two.

Up North should definitely be getting a little snow from the storm, and if your planning a trip, now would be a good time to get some fresh snow for a change. Temperatures have been consistently cold for a while up north, so conditions are definitely improving. Lets just hope for more and more storm to move our way in the coming weeks.

Lots of new stuff to check out here at the shop, getting new surf boards in with each passing day, and we even got a few boogie, and skim boards for those looking for one. Stand up Paddle boards are going to be a hot item in the coming years, already popular in places like Cali and Hawaii, these relative boats are supplying people with a lot of options for those down times in between swells. Look out for our Stand Up Paddle Boards lessons ands tours this summer, get a full body work out while checking out the beautiful waterways we have here in Southeastern New England. If you have already tried it and love it, come check out what SUP's we have at XB.
