PUNXSUTAWNEY PHIL

The rodent saw his shadow! So, apparently that mean we have at least six more weeks of winter to go. It seems like winter just got here though, with the temperature going from freezing to mild every few days, it has been hard to settle into any normal winter pattern. Even the surf, and snow have seen inconsistent conditions throughout the winter.

Not complaining here, but it would be nice to see a little normalcy in our weather, and waves more often wouldn't be bad thing either. The pre-holiday run of waves in 2009 was pretty consistent, and looked as if we were going to have a solid winter. As things have turned out, the last few weeks have had only a few days of good surf and a lot of strange tides and winds to go with each swell. Just another lesson from the ocean, and as each storm passes we learn a little more about how the coastline reacts to changing wind and wave patterns.

The other side of the country finally has some weather that looks as if it may move this way, so with a little luck we could all see some snow up north and some waves along the coast. Optimistic as always, it would be nice to see a change.
